Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Hanna Hopko took part in the Bratislava Global Security Forum, held in the capital of Slovakia on April 15-17.
The Forum brought together about a thousand of public and political figures, experts and journalists from 70 countries of the world. Among them, in particular, the presidents of Croatia, Bulgaria, Macedonia and Slovakia, Chairman of the NATO Military Committee General Petr Pavel, and former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.
The Chairperson of the Committee took part in numerous discussions and meetings with Western politicians and diplomats.
Separate discussion panel "Ukraine Watch: Beyond Crisis Management" was devoted to the problems of security and strategic development of Ukraine. Other topics in focus were the situation in the Middle East, terrorism in Europe, migration crisis, NATO's counteraction to Russia's aggressive policy.
Also in the course of the visit, the Chairperson of the Committee discussed with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Slovakia the issue of consular services provision to citizens of Ukraine, as many of our fellow citizens have faced problems because of closure of the Consulate General in Presov.
Hanna Hopko also met with activists raising funds for Ukrainian hospitals in the framework of Ukraine Slovakia SOS initiative.
