"The Law of Ukraine "On openness of application of public funds" has become a decisive step to eliminate corrupt practices," First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andrii Parubii said in his address to participants in the roundtable entitled "A year after adoption of the Law of Ukraine "On openness of application of public funds": first conclusions and prospects."
He said that the society "today is expecting estimations by the executive power as to the implementation of this Law."
"The adoption of the Law of Ukraine "On openness of application of public funds" showed close cooperation between the society and the representative authorities, which trigger the key decisions," Parubii said.
The politician reminded that "there was a small number of those, who believed that this Law could be adopted and implemented; however, "the E-data portal operates, and this Law has fundamentally become an active mechanism of control and prevention of corrupt practices in using funds by government authorities at all levels."
At the same time, Parubii gave to understand that "certain defects have become obvious over the time of the portal's operation and the those will have to be regulated at the legislative level."
"If there are some difficulties in the implementation of its provisions, I do guarantee on behalf of the Parliament that we will manage to amend the effective Law without any protractions. The use of public funds will continue being the priority of my constant attention," Parubii said.
"I see considerable potential and power in the fact that we have managed to concentrate our will in the fight against one of the greatest dangers after Russia's aggression in Ukraine — corruption. We have to gradually oust the corruption out of our state. We are heading off to new, open Ukraine," Parubii said.
