Verkhovna Rada Committee on Environmental Policy, Nature Resources Utilization and Elimination of the Consequences of Chornobyl Catastrophe opposes draft law "On amendments to some legislative acts of Ukraine" (as to specification of order of letting water bodies)

The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Environmental Policy, Nature Resources Utilization and Elimination of the Consequences of Chornobyl Catastrophe does not support the draft law No. 3157 "On amendments to some legislative acts of Ukraine" (as to the order of letting water bodies along with land plots).

The Committee noted that extending of lease right to water body for special water use for purposes of irrigation will restrict rights to special and general water use of other users. At the same time, water drainage of waters used in irrigation, especially in irrigation of rice fields, will entail pollution of leased water bodies.

Besides, the amendments offered to Article 134 of the Land Code of Ukraine will entail uncompetitive letting of water bodies and lands of water funds, first of all for the needs of fishery industry, cause decrease in local budget revenues and create additional grounds for corruption.
