Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopts Law "On adoption of Protocol on amendments to TRIPS Agreement"

The Protocol on amendments to the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights signed in Geneva (Switzerland) on December 6, 2005, which takes effect for Ukraine in compliance with Item 3 of Article X of the Agreement on foundation of the World Trade Organization.

The protocol envisions simplified procedures for production and importation of generic medicines by the TRIPS Agreement member countries.

Ukraine's joining the Protocol will facilitate the problem of population's access to medicines.

Respective draft law was registered under No. 0079.
