The leaders of the parliamentary committees on January 14 took part in the meeting on the topic "Main directions of decentralization of power in Ukraine in 2016," where they discussed the problematic issues of decentralization implementation in 2016.

During the meeting they defined basic tasks to be fulfilled in 2016 for continuing decentralization in Ukraine, namely support for unification of communities, strengthening of their capacity, transfer of authorities to the local level and development of local democracy.

Several committees held meetings and working conferences.

The Committee on Corruption Prevention and Counteraction discussed some issues of the implementation of legislation concerning the introduction of the system of electronic declarations as a new tool of financial control of civil servants.

The Committee on State Building, Regional Policy and Local Self-Government listened to the information of the chairperson of the subcommittee on regional policy, local budgets and municipal property Andrii Reka concerning monitoring over the implementation of the Law "On cooperation of territorial communities."

Chairperson of the Committee on Environmental Policy, Nature Resources Utilization and Elimination of the Consequences of Chornobyl Catastrophe Mykola Tomenko, following the working conference on the plan of legislative activities for the current year, identified five main environmental priorities - elaboration of a legal framework for proper social protection of this category of the population; final approval of the draft law on mining and sale of amber; imposition of a moratorium on industrial fishing in certain fishery water bodies of Ukraine; approval of a unified draft law on household waste and improving of state regulation of waste management; preparation of a number of draft laws connected with restoration of the system of environmental control in line with European norms and standards over industrial production and construction.

Chairperson of the Committee on Environmental Policy, Nature Resources Utilization and Elimination of the Consequences of Chornobyl Catastrophe Mykola Tomenko took part in the meeting of the steering committee on preparation and carrying out of activities dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Chornobyl Catastrophe.

Mykola Tomenko following the Committee's meeting on January 13 said that he considered unacceptable transfer of the State Water Resources Agency of Ukraine under control of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.

The Committee decided to repeatedly address the Prime Minister and the President of Ukraine, and point to the inadmissibility of the implementation of such plans over the threat to other sectors of the economy, and the functioning of the State.

The Committee on Human Rights, National Minorities and Interethnic Relations held a working meeting concerning the preparation for the parliamentary hearing on the protection of human rights of internally displaced persons and citizens of Ukraine residing in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine and in the territory not controlled by the Ukrainian government in the antiterrorist operation area.

"These parliamentary hearings will help to increase public awareness of this issue and is an opportunity for the people involved, to speak from the parliamentary rostrum, speak about their concerns and be heard without intermediaries," the Chairperson of the Committee Hryhorii Nemyria said.

The Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information Policy held a working meeting on prospect planning of drafting activities.

The Committee members analyzed the state of current regulation of the information sphere and identified priorities for the near future.

Last week the parliamentary committees continued work with reports and plans of activities for 2016.
