The Committee held 44 meetings, where prepared and examined were 247 issues, most of which draft laws and resolutions on many aspects of foreign policy and external relations of Ukraine, ratification of different international agreements, in particular concerning the foreign economic activity, migration and other issues in the competence of the Committee.

In addition, last year they held two joint meetings with the Committee on European Integration, where they discussed issues of the foreign economic activity of Ukraine in the context of proper protection of national interests in defense and security areas, and the issue of implementation of measures of comprehensive oversight of the security and defense sector in the context of NATO - Ukraine cooperation.

A total of 68 draft laws, resolutions and other acts of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine the Committee examined as the principal, 47 of them were adopted as a whole (35 laws and 12 resolutions and other acts of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine).

Among the ratifying draft laws approved by the Verkhovna Rada, significant part form basic political agreements such as on the accession of Ukraine to the International Convention on the Protection of all Persons from Enforced Disappearance and on ratification of the Protocol on Strategic Environmental Assessment to the Convention on the environmental impact assessment in a transboundary context;

international legal documents on cooperation in economic, financial sectors (financial agreement with the European Investment Bank and others, in particular, on ratification of the Letter on Amendments to the Financial Agreement (Project of construction of high-voltage transmission line of 750 kV Rivne NPP - Kyiv) between Ukraine and the European Investment Bank, on ratification of the Financial Agreement between Ukraine and the European Investment Bank (Project "Emergency credit program to restore Ukraine"), on ratification of the Agreement between Ukraine and Japan on the promotion and protection of investments);

in scientific, military spheres (the ratification of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the Government of Ukraine and NATO Communications and Information Agency on Consultation, Command, Control and Communication, represented by General Manager of the NATO Communications and Information Agency, concerning cooperation in consulting, management, communications, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance in the framework of the NATO program Partnership for Peace);

concerning cooperation in the field of nuclear and radiation safety (on ratification of the Implementing Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the NATO Support Agency (NSPA) on disposal of radioactive waste that had accumulated as a result of carrying out military programs of the former Soviet Union in Ukraine).

Also significant part in the draft laws on ratification take international legal documents on abiding by the legal regime of the state border (on ratification of the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Republic of Poland on the junction point of the state borders of Ukraine, Belarus and Poland,

on ratification of the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Belarus regarding the procedure for the crossing of the Ukrainian-Belarusian state border by residents of Rokytne district, Rivne region of Ukraine and Stolin district, Brest region of Belarus).

Last year the Verkhovna Rada denounced a series of agreements with the Russian Federation, such as on the cooperation in the military sphere, in the field of military intelligence, on the mutual protection of classified information, on the organization of military interstate transportation, on the transit through the territory of Ukraine of military formations of the Russian Federation, temporarily located in the territory of Moldova and others.

The Information Office was informed in the Secretariat of the Committee that the Committee paid particular attention to events having relation to the Russian military aggression in the east of Ukraine and continuation of the temporary occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. The Committee also promptly reacted to terrorist challenges and threats occurring in the European continent in 2015.

In particular, during the year on the initiative of the Committee prepared were a number of joint addresses and resolutions on the terrorist acts in Paris, where civilians were killed; on carrying out of illegal elections in certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions; on the violation by the Russian Federation of fundamental rights and freedoms and growing political persecution, as well as on the visit of a group of Deputies of the Italian Republic's Chamber to the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

The activities conducted by the committee ended in the adoption of 12 resolutions and other acts of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine: "On the Appeal of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the United Nations, the European Parliament, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly on the violation of human rights and freedoms in the Autonomous Republic Crimea", "On the Statement of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine "On rebuffing armed aggression of the Russian Federation and overcoming its consequences," "On the Appeal of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the United Nations, the European Parliament, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, world leaders and all members of the international community regarding the condemnation of the violation of human rights and freedoms of the Crimean Tatar people," etc.

For the first time in the history of the independent Ukrainian State to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine was elected people's deputy of Ukraine, who has no ability to represent the people of Ukraine in the session hall of the Ukrainian Parliament, because she is illegally held in custody in the territory of another country on false charges and with evident violation of international standards of the human rights and freedoms protection. With this in mind, the Committee has repeatedly considered at its sessions appeals to international organizations and heads of foreign states concerning the release of unlawfully held in custody Nadia Savchenko, as well as the release of other citizens of Ukraine - Oleg Sentsov, Mykola Karpiuk and other citizens of Ukraine, who during the armed aggression of Russia against Ukraine were captured, illegally transported to the territory of the Russian Federation and are held against their will in its territory.
