Chairperson of Verkhovna Rada Committee on Environmental Policy, Nature Resources Utilization and Elimination of the Consequences of Chornobyl Catastrophe Mykola Tomenko points to five major ecological priorities for 2016

He said that the priority number one is the introduction of the legal framework for proper social protection of the participants in the Chornobyl NPP disaster rectification.

The second priority is the final adoption of the draft law on extraction and sale of amber, which will allow creation of civilized market of amber in Ukraine.

Another important trend in work for the Committee in 2016 is the imposition of moratorium on industrial fishing at some water basins of Ukraine. Besides, a priority will be the coordination of the single draft law touching domestic wastes and improvement of the state regulation of waste handling.

One of the priorities in the field of lawmaking is the elaboration of a number of draft laws related to restoration of the system of environment control in line with the European standards.
