The Committee on Family Matters, Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism proposes that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine following examination in the first reading adopt as a basis draft law of Ukraine on State Fund of Humanitarian Development of Ukraine (registration No. 3597). The draft law provides for the establishment of the State Fund of Humanitarian Development of Ukraine, which will focus on the implementation of state and public social, cultural and humanitarian projects (initiatives) and the promotion and development of physical culture and sport, art and culture, science and education, social protection of children, health care and domestic tourism.
The Committee members stressed that, pursuant to the best European practices it is necessary to direct a part of taxes from the consumption of alcohol and tobacco, lottery and gambling, bookmaker activities at the support to the humanitarian sphere, and thus create some compensators to these harmful spheres of business.
