The working meeting was held on January 12, 2016 in order to prepare for the extended meeting of the Committee on January 27, 2016, which is scheduled to examine the draft law "On Education" No. 3491.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences, the State Inspectorate of Educational Institutions of Ukraine.
The subject of the discussion was the structure of secondary education in Ukraine and necessary amendments to the draft law that will allow the law to become an effective instrument of full-scale reform of the education system.
In particular, the meeting participants drew attention to the need to supplement the draft law with a number of norms and articles having relation to the right to choose the educational institution and the rights of parents to choose the form of education, the introduction of effective mechanisms to ensure academic autonomy of educational institutions and teachers, the national regulator of qualifications, educational statistics, etc.
