In particular, during his speech Mykola Tomenko noted that the vote for the so-called "fiscal laws" put at risk the implementation of two important documents concerning social protection and assistance to citizens who had suffered from the consequences of the accident at Chornobyl nuclear power plant.

He reminded that the Verkhovna Rada adopted the Resolution "On honoring participants of liquidation of consequences of the accident at Chornobyl nuclear power plant, and the events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Chornobyl Catastrophe," by which it ordered the Cabinet of Ministers to fulfill provisions important for social protection, and to envisage in the draft law of Ukraine on State Budget for 2016:

1) expenses for financing activities dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Chornobyl Catastrophe;

2) increase of funding of budget programs having relation to medical support for victims of the Chornobyl Catastrophe;

3) increase of expenses on pensions of the disabled from among the liquidators of the Chornobyl Catastrophe consequences, injured children and people evacuated in 1986 from the exclusion zone;

4) payment of pensions to persons affected by the Chornobyl Catastrophe, in full volume;

5) financing of the reconstruction of rehabilitation center for victims of the Chornobyl Catastrophe;

6) taking into account - when determining indicators of the volume of medical subvention - the number of current population of regional centers, districts which are partly serviced by specialized medical units of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine;

7) restoration of funding of the budget program "Provision of housing to citizens affected by the Chornobyl Catastrophe."

"Despite this, the Cabinet of Ministers has fulfilled none of these provisions of the Resolution in its version of the budget for 2016, and has not envisaged funds for measures of social protection of citizens affected by the Chornobyl Catastrophe," the Chairperson of the Committee said.

In addition, according to Tomenko, the government has left aside the Decree of the President of Ukraine "On measures dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Chornobyl Catastrophe," which provided for improving medical, social and communal servicing of citizens affected by the Chornobyl Catastrophe.

"This attitude of the Cabinet of Ministers to honoring liquidators of the Chornobyl Catastrophe prevents holding at an adequate level of public activities dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Chornobyl Catastrophe, and also deprives citizens-victims of this tragedy's consequences of social protection," the Committee Head said.
