The draft law No. 3223 offers to delete from the list of functions of the Ministry of Youth and Sports provisions concerning:
Organization of monitoring over the quality of physical culture and sports services;
Organization and holding of public sports lottery;
Carrying out of information work;
Ensuring of the development of sports medicine;
Organization and ensuring of the construction of sports facilities.
During the discussion, the Committee members and representatives of sports community made several remarks to the proposed provisions of the draft law, particularly concerning absence in the document of a mechanism of execution of the functions they plan to withdraw from the ministry.
The Committee members believe that adoption and implementation of the draft law in the proposed wording could lead to aggravation of conflicts in the sports sector and would negatively influence the development of sports in Ukraine.
