Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Policy recommends Parliament adopt as a basis draft law on amendments to certain laws of Ukraine regulating state statistical activities

The draft law No. 3512 proposes to fix at the legislative level a special status of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, establish the National Council on Statistics, and determine the peculiarities of appointment of heads and deputy heads of territorial bodies of the central executive power body in charge of statistics.

As they emphasized in the Committee, the draft law's elaboration is aimed at further harmonization of state statistics with the EU statistical system, creation of conditions for carrying out of activities of bodies of the national system of state statistics in accordance with generally accepted principles of global and European statistical practices, in particular the principle of professional independence.
