In particular, at the meeting on December 23, 2015 they listened to the information and reviewed materials provided by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Ukraine and the State Agency of Forest Resources of Ukraine concerning the implementation of the Law of Ukraine "On amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine concerning biodiversity protection” (No.323 - VIII of April 9, 2015) and the Law of Ukraine "On amendments to some legislative acts of Ukraine concerning wildlife protection” (No.322 - VIII of April 9, 2015).
Having discussed the report of Acting Minister of Environment and Natural Resources of Ukraine Kurykin S.I. and First Deputy Chairperson of the State Agency of Forest Resources of Ukraine Yushkevych Kh.V., the Committee pointed to the fact that a number of legal acts are yet to be elaborated and brought in line with the provisions of these laws.
Also, according to the Committee members, there has been no prompt response to the facts of wild animal abuse and bringing offenders to the responsibility envisaged by the law, no constructive dialogue with public environmental organizations and mass media as to promoting the humane treatment of wild animals.
Considering the above, the Committee decided to address the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Ukraine and the State Agency of Forest Resources of Ukraine with a demand to ensure control over compliance with these laws and legal acts issued pursuant to them.
