In particular, the interparliamentary relations with the European countries was developed through various protocol and familiarizing visits to the European countries, carrying out together with European institutions of measures in the framework of the Parliamentary Association Committee between Ukraine and the European Union (PAC), the Parliamentary Assembly of the EU - Eastern Neighbours (EuroNest PA). The Committee members also took active part in seminars, sessions, conferences, round-tables, which were organized by these institutions, and initiated holding of similar activities in Ukraine.

Relationship between Ukraine and the European Union in the field of interparliamentary cooperation developed in the framework of the Parliamentary Association Committee (PAC), which was established pursuant to Article 467 of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.

In the Verkhovna Rada of the VIII convocation, Ukraine’s delegation to the PAC was chaired by people's deputy from the People's Front parliamentary faction Ostap Semerak, and his deputies were people's deputies Iryna Heraschenko (Petro Poroshenko Bloc) and Viktor Halasiuk (Radical Party).

The PAC held its first meeting on February 24-25, 2015 in Brussels, under the co-chairmanship of Chairperson of Ukraine's delegation to the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee Ostap Semerak and Chairperson of the European Parliament's Delegation to the Committee Andrej Plenkovic. The main attention of the PAC members was paid to discussing overall political, economic, humanitarian and security situations in Ukraine.

On July 2, 2015, the Bureau of the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee met in

Kyiv under the co-chairmanship of Andrej Plenkovic on behalf of the European Parliament and of Ostap Semerak on behalf of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The Bureau members discussed a wide range of issues affecting the EU-Ukraine relations, and considered the overall security and political situation in Ukraine.

On November 4-5, 2015 in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine took place the second meeting of the Parliamentary Association Committee between Ukraine and the European Union co-chaired by Ostap Semerak and Andrej Plenkovic. Discussed were the state of EU-Ukraine relationship, domestic political and security situation in Ukraine, fulfillment by the Ukrainian side of the Action Plan for the implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, sectoral cooperation, completion of the second phase of the Action Plan on liberalization of the EU visa regime for Ukraine, Ukraine's readiness to full-fledge application of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area with the EU from January 1, 2016, and the implementation of a number of reforms in Ukraine in accordance with the Association Agenda.

Last year, the Committee also worked in the framework of the EU Parliamentary Assembly - Eastern Neighbours (EuroNest PA):

On March 16-18, 2015 in the city of Yerevan (Armenia) took place fourth plenary session of EuroNest PA. In its framework they held meetings of four permanent committees (the Committee on Political Affairs, Human Rights and Democracy, the Committee on Economic Integration, Legal Approximation and Convergence with EU Policies, the Committee on Social Affairs, Education, Culture and Civil Society, the Committee on Energy Security), the Working Group on Belarus and the Bureau of EuroNest PA. EuroNest PA plans to hold its next session in 2016 in Brussels (Belgium).

On October 7, 2015 in Strasbourg, they held a meeting of the Bureau of the EuroNest Parliamentary Assembly and meeting of the Working Group on Rules of Procedure.

On November 5-6, 2015 in Tbilisi held was a meeting of EuroNest PA Committee on Social Affairs, Education, Culture and Civil Society.

On November 9-10, 2015 in Brussels they held meetings of the EuroNest PA Committee on Political Issues, Human Rights and Democracy; EuroNest PA Committee on Economic Integration, Legal Approximation and Convergence with EU Policies; and EuroNest PA Committee on Energy Security.

Much attention in the work of the Committee on European Integration was focused on meetings with prominent politicians and foreign countries' officials having influence on formation of the attitude to Ukraine in other countries and the EU.

In particular, on April 21, 2015 the Committee leadership took part in the Conference of chairpersons of the committees of the national Parliaments of the European Union Member States dealing with the European Union affairs (COSAC) in Riga; on November 29 - December 1, 2015 the Committee leadership took part in the Conference of chairpersons of the committees of the national Parliaments of the European Union Member States dealing with the European Union affairs (COSAC) in Luxembourg.

Contribution of the Committee into the adoption by the European Commission of a positive Sixth Progress Report on the implementation by Ukraine of the Action Plan on liberalization of the EU visa regime for Ukraine can be divided into the following components directly arising from the functions and tasks in the Committee's competence:

- Adaptation of the legislation. In this context it should be mentioned that all the draft laws necessary to fulfill the Action Plan on different stages of its implementation were examined by the Committee. The Committee was also leading in the refinement of a number of necessary draft laws, in particular concerning the ratification of treaties, conventions and memoranda.

- Control function of the Committee. The Committee held a series of special meetings, committee and parliamentary hearings with the participation of government officials, people's deputies, representatives of diplomatic corps, NGOs, local self-government bodies, etc. In particular, during the last parliamentary hearings in May 2015 they carried out comprehensive audit of the situation with the visa liberalization, which ended in the elaboration of joint recommendations for the concerned authorities in order to carry out necessary measures for the successful completion of the Action Plan implementation.

- Parliamentary diplomacy. The least visible, but at the same time, vitally important and effective were the efforts in the framework of parliamentary diplomacy. The matter of visa liberalization thanks to persistence of the Ukrainian side was the permanent issue on the agenda of all meetings, at first of the Committee of the Parliamentary Cooperation Ukraine - EU, and later of the Parliamentary Association Committee (PAC) since the approval by Ukraine of the Action Plan in 2010. This issue was among the key ones during bilateral meetings of the committee members with deputies of the European Parliament and national Parliaments of the EU Member States. To push forward this issue they actively used such tool as personal contacts of the Committee members in the European Parliament and regular meetings in the framework of the informal group for support to European Ukraine, created in the European Parliament.

In addition, the Committee held a series of conferences, seminars, and round-tables, in particular a round-table on the topic "The Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union as a basis for European integration of Ukraine; an information seminar - round-table on the topic "Energy efficiency: how to support vulnerable customers;" an expert discussion "Association Agreement. Inter-parliamentary dimension;" a round-table on the topic "Regional policy in the context of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU;" an information seminar - round-table on the topic "Responsibility for public expenditures: the role of external audit;" together with the German European Law Institute they started a training program on the fundamentals of a deep and comprehensive free trade area between Ukraine and the European Union for the personnel of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat, etc.
