In the round-table on December 9, 2015 participated members of the Committee on Culture and Spirituality, representatives of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, charities, NGOs, experts in the fields of relevant legislation.
As Chairperson of the Committee on Culture and Spirituality Mykola Kniazhytskyi said, the joint work of experts, politicians and philanthropists is aimed at elaboration of a draft law that would create favorable conditions for charitable donations, especially to support culture, education, science and sports.The attendees were familiarized with a presentation – a research into the legislation of Europe and the world in the area of ??tax incentives for charity.
Based on the experience of the USA, Canada, Britain, Australia, Ireland, Hungary, Poland and others, they outlined several basic models of tax incentives for taxpayers donating funds for cultural and educational purposes.
The round-table participants also discussed the issue of encouraging taxpayers to charity by raising awareness of citizens of Ukraine.
The participants of the round-table pointed to the need to expand tax incentives for philanthropists and simplify the mechanism of charitable donations for individuals, and suggested that the Committee establish a working group involving experts from charitable environment for the elaboration of necessary draft laws.
