At the meeting held on December 9, they discussed the approval of Recommendations of Committee hearings on the topic "Reforming of the parliamentary media organizations." The meeting participants stressed that the Recommendations are intended to be some kind of a “road map” for reforming of the newspaper Holos Ukrainy (Voice of Ukraine), magazine Viche, and TV channel Rada. This issue has been already discussed at one of the previous meetings, carried out right after the adoption of the Law "On the reform of state and municipal print media." Then they decided to take into account proposals of editorial offices of these media organizations, and initiate submission of corresponding proposals by the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. As noted meeting's Chairperson Viktoria Siumar, although the Law gives three years to make reforms, necessary efforts in this direction should begin as soon as possible. In particular, this concerns the provision of corresponding proposals.
Taking into account all the arguments provided, the Committee members agreed to postpone considering the issue for later.
Also during the meeting they discussed several draft laws, mostly in the sphere of advertising, approved Recommendations of committee hearings entitled "Implementation of digital terrestrial television broadcast in Ukraine: challenges and problems of information security," which took place on November 11 this year, listened to the appeal on a number of headline-making events and issues having relation to the subject of competence of the Committee.
