Verkhovna Rada Committee on Corruption Prevention and Counteraction declares non-complying with anti-corruption legislation draft law on amendments to Land Code of Ukraine concerning land auctions

The draft law (No.2279), in particular, offers to withdraw Paragraph 17 from Section 2 of Article 134 of the Land Code of Ukraine. As a result, provision of persons with land plots instead of the ones bought out (or forcibly alienated) for public needs or on the ground of public necessity by a decision of state government bodies, the Council of Ministers of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea or local self-government bodies, will be made on a competitive basis (land auctions).

According to the Committee members, implementation of this regulation will encourage officials of local self-government bodies to abuse office and alienate from individuals or legal entities land plots for public needs or on the ground of public necessity and then illegally raise funds for their further provision with other land plots, but this time on a competitive basis (land auctions). Taking the above mentioned into account, it is reasonable to finalize the draft law.
