As noted during the Committee meeting on November 25, draft law No. 3305 is aimed at improving the protection of animals from cruelty, generation of humane treatment of animals, drawing of citizens’ attention to the pressing issues of protecting animals from cruelty etc.

To implement this goal, it is proposed to clarify the notions used in the Law of Ukraine on Protection of Animals from Cruelty, namely the definitions of "cruelty towards animals," "animal shelters," "pet identification" etc.

It is proposed to supplement the responsibilities of pet owners with pet registration, offspring control, sterilization, when required, ensuring the road safety when walking with the animal near the transportation routes, cleaning of pets’ excrements etc. The project also introduces restrictions on pet owners (maintenance in public sites, maintenance of unregistered pets, breeding, when it is impossible to maintain and place the offspring, etc.).
