November 16-20, a Ukrainian delegation led by Artur Herasymov, head of the group for inter-parliamentary ties with the Republic of Chile, is on a visit in Chile on an invitation from Carlos Abel Jarpa Wevar, head of the Chile - Ukraine inter-parliamentary group for friendship of the Chamber of Deputies of the Republic of Chile. The delegation also includes Ihor Popov, a member of the group for inter-parliamentary ties with the Republic of Chile, and Yurii Diudin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Argentina and the Republic of the Chile.
On November 18, there were meetings and negotiations of members of the Ukrainian parliamentary delegation with leaders of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies of the Congress of the Republic of Chile Patricio Walker Prieto and Denise Pascal Allende, and with chairpersons of respective groups of friendship with Ukraine in both chambers of the Chilean parliament Victor Perez and Carlos Abel Jarpa Wevar, members of standing committees for defense, international affairs, public healthcare and others.
In addition to important topics of the bilateral political relations, including exchange of visits at high level, the meetings addressed practical issues of boosting the Ukraine - Chile cooperation in the sectors of mutual interest, first and foremost, in high-tech industries. The meetings also touched on the question of the parliaments' facilitation of projects of the bilateral cooperation. The visit has yielded an agreement to enhance coordination between respective groups of the two parliaments in order to provide the parliamentary control over the implementation of promising projects.
