The participants in the visit were Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Environmental Policy, Nature Resources Utilization and Elimination of the Consequences of Chornobyl Catastrophe Mykola Tomenko and Chairperson of the Subcommittee on State Environment Monitoring Ivan Rybak.
In the frames of the trip, Mykola Tomenko and Ivan Rybak were at the site of the Shelter facility and visited special warehouse for solid radioactive wastes at the Vector complex.
At the meeting with specialists and leadership of the Chornobyl NPP, Mykola Tomenko noted that the progress in the confinement construction was obvious. Besides, the participants in the event discussed the course of works at the site of the Chornobyl NPP under international projects.
Mykola Tomenko pointed to the problems with the financing of the works at the Chornobyl NPP. According to him, the Ukrainian Government has to pay particular attention to the speediest settling of the problem of insufficient financing in 2015 under the budget program entitled "Safe Maintenance of Power Units and Shelter Facility and Measures on Decommissioning of Chornobyl NPP."
In the frames of the working visit, official handing over of international technical aid in the frames of IAEA Action Plan on Nuclear Safety 2011: Health and Ecological Programmes around the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone in Ukraine: Supply of a Wood Incinerator: General Procurement Notice tool place at the site of the Central Radioactive Wastes Handling Enterprise.
The participants in the solemn transfer of the aid were Mykola Tomenko, Acting Environment and Natural Resources Minister of Ukraine Serhii Kurykin, Acting Head of the State Exclusion Zone Management Agency Vitalii Petruk, Head of the European Union Delegation in Ukraine Ambassador Jan Tombinski, and others.
Mykola Tomenko also noted the necessity for preparation of events and organization of holding of the 30th anniversary of the Chornobyl NPP disaster at the national and international levels.
