Verkhovna Rada Committee on Free Speech and Information Policy hosts hearing entitled "Introduction of digital terrestrial broadcasting in Ukraine: challenges and problems of information security"

The participants in the meeting were members of the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council of Ukraine, Information Policy Ministry, State Television and Radio Broadcasting Committee of Ukraine, etc.

Chairperson of the Committee Viktoriya Siumar said that Ukraine had failed to ensure Analogue Shut Off before June 17, 2015 as was envisioned by the requirements of the Geneva 2006 International Agreement. She noted that the Cabinet of Ministers did not engaged in coordination of the switch to digital standards.

The participants in the hearings urged the Committee generalize proposals, adapt its recommendations and hold consultations with the Government as to the creation of interagency coordination council to elaborate the program for final switch to digital broadcasting technologies.
