At the meeting, Ukraine was represented by Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Affairs Hanna Hopko and Chairperson of the Subcommittee on Euro-Atlantic Cooperation and European Integration Svitlana Zalishchuk. The participants on the part of Sweden were Chair of the Riksdag Committee on Foreign Affairs Kenneth G. Forslund, members of Riksdag Pyry Niemi, Karin Astrom, Bjorn Soder, Kerstin Lundgren, Hans Linde, Birgitta Ohlsson, secretaries of Riksdag Committee on Foreign Affairs Martin Brothen and Fredrik Kirst. Besides, another participant in the meeting was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to Ukraine Andreas von Beckerath.

The Ukrainian side informed the foreign guests and diplomats about current political situation in Ukraine, in particular, counteraction to the Russia's aggression, important domestic reforms, European integration, issues of security in the east of Ukraine, status of implementation of the Minsk agreements, development of political situation in Ukraine on the eve of the second round of local election in Kyiv and respective constitutional (decentralization of power) and economic reforms in the country, etc. The Ukrainian representatives also highly appreciated Sweden's consistent and strong support of Ukraine in terms of the country's fight against Russia's aggression and annexation of Crimea both at the bilateral and international levels.

The members of the Swedish Parliament expressed their intention to expand cooperation, in particular, in political, economic and humanitarian fields. They also pointed to the importance of cooperation at the level of respective committees. The Parties also stressed the dimension of restoration and retention of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, assistance in the process of decentralization of power.

At the end of the meeting, Chairperson of the Committee Hanna Hopko informed the Swedish parliamentarians about the erection of the Monument to the Victims of Holodomor [Extermination by hunger in Ukraine] in the center of Washington (the United States). It was erected in the memory of millions of people, who passed away as a result of the Stalin regime's Holodomor — genocide of the Ukrainian people.
