Recently, Kyiv hosted the second Kyiv International Economic Forum.

Its participants were 67 speakers from 20 countries, 150 representatives of mass media organizations and over 800 guests.

One of the greatest business events of the year in the country attracted attention of famous economists, specialists engaged in holding reforms, businessmen, who had a chance to discuss new strategy of technological, social and economic modernization of Ukraine and determine the most effective instruments able to allow our country to conduct an economic breakthrough.

Chief Executive Officer of the World Academy of Art & Science Garry Jacobs noted that a hand of free market had so far never led to sudden success in the development of economy — the world "does not know such examples."

At the same time, Erik Reinert, a famous Norwegian economist and the author of the book entitled "How Rich Countries Got Rich... and Why Poor Countries Stay Poor," said that the key to success depends on the development of industry.

In support of the said opinions, Viktor Halasiuk said: "We have a catastrophic misbalance. We have followed "unknown hand of the market," which turned us into a mere producer of raw materials."

The economist expressed his concerns over the outflow of well-qualified staff from Ukraine. "Which is worse, today the major resource exported from Ukraine is people. A total of 411,000 Ukrainians found jobs in Poland only in January-June 2015. Just imagine what that means when our country has only 19 million able-bodied people and over 2 million unemployed ones. The number of 411,000 is simply an economic disaster. Ukraine is an economic donor. Such situation requires immediate improvement. Ukraine occupies the fifth position among countries with the largest number of emigrants. That is horrible. The people simply cannot find themselves and just escape from the country. To ignore that is an economic crime. Most of incumbent parliamentary deputies are not interested in unification for the sake of economy," Viktor Halasiuk said.

Commenting on unnerving indicators of the economic situation Ukraine is in at the moment, the chairperson of the parliamentary committee says that Ukraine is now in the economic abyss.

Besides, Halasiuk pointed out the importance of creation of the Agency to support small-sized business in compliance with experience of the U.S. Small Business Administration to facilitate access of domestic producers to foreign markets.

"No strong economy without strong industry. No strong state without strong economy!" the chairperson of the Committee said.
