In particular, the Committee members focused on the issue of resistance to legal activity of journalists.
The reason to organize the discussion was the fact of detention of journalists of well-known anticorruption program called "The schemes" by the employees of the Security Service of Ukraine.
As a result of the discussion, the people's deputies decided to:
— address the prosecutor general requesting to personally control the consideration of the case upon resistance to legal activity of journalists;
— address the head of the Security Service of Ukraine to demand provision of the Committee with results of the internal investigation into the case;
— hold Committee meeting to consider the circumstances of the incident with the participation of representatives of law enforcement bodies using all case materials they have;
— offer the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada to invite head of the Security Service of Ukraine to inform the Parliament about circumstances of the incident on October 9 plenary meeting;
The Committee also decided to recommend that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopt the draft law No. 3147 "On amendments to Law of Ukraine "On television and radio broadcasting" (as to authorities of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine) in first reading and as a basis. Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Free Speech and Information Policy noted that the draft law should bring the said Law of Ukraine in line with terms of the Constitution of Ukraine.
The Committee also decided to recommend that the Parliament adopt the draft law No. 2077a "On amendments to Law of Ukraine "On advertising" (as to requirements to advertising of consumer lending) as a basis.
