Verkhovna Rada adopts draft law "On amendments to Article 9 of Law of Ukraine "On citizenship of Ukraine" (as to simplified order of naturalization of foreigners and stateless persons doing military service in Armed Forces of Ukraine) as a basis

The draft law No. 2847 offers to supplement Article 9 of the Law of Ukraine "On citizenship of Ukraine" with a provision simplifying the order of naturalization of foreigners and stateless persons doing military service under respective contract in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In compliance with the provision the term of such service is set for the period of three years from the moment of enactment of the contract.

Besides, it offers to envision that the demand to receive a permit for immigration, as a requirement to receiving Ukraine's citizenship, is not spread for foreigners and stateless persons doing military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine in compliance with the Ukrainian legislation. Besides, it is offered to supplement Article 9 of the Law with a provision that envisages that conditions of naturalization enshrined in Items 3-6 of Section 2, are not spread for persons having remarkable merits to Ukraine, inter alia for foreigners and stateless persons doing military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine in compliance with the Ukrainian legislation and having respective state awards.
