The Committee members consider it inexpedient to transfer requirements of Article 185 of the Family Code of Ukraine that obliges parents to take part in additional expenditures for a child that were the result of particular circumstances (child's development, illness, mutilation) to obliging parents to pay for education under contract at a higher education establishment, as in compliance with requirements of Article 199 of the Family Code of Ukraine, parents have to take care of their daughter/son during the period of their studies until they reach 23, which is enough in most of the cases.
According to the Committee members, adoption of the draft law may entail serious conflicts between parents and their adult daughter/son if a young person, who fails to obtain the right to education at a prestigious higher education establishments at the expense of the budget funds under respective tender, demands that parents pay for the education under contract, inter alia abroad.
At the same time, the issue of parents' additional expenditures for adult daughter/son entailed by particular circumstances can be regulated through amending Article 199 of the Family Code of Ukraine.
