The Verkhovna Rada Committee for Environmental Policy, Environmental Management and Elimination of Consequences of Chornobyl NPP Disaster has given no support to the draft law "On moratorium on commercial fishing and other types of special use of water resources at some fish-breeding water bodies of Ukraine."

Meeting participants noted the draft law No. 2776 offers to introduce ban (moratorium) on commercial fishing at some fish-breeding water bodies of Ukraine for the period of five years. In particular, the moratorium touches the rivers of Dnieper, Desna, Pivdennyi Buh, Berda, Ros, Styr, Siverskyi Donets, as well as the lakes, bays, gulfs, water reservoirs having permanent or temporary connection to the said rivers.
