Participants of the meeting organized by the Subcommittee for cooperation with the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine were people's deputies, Verkhovna Rada Ombudsman Valeriya Lutkovska, First Deputy Head of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine Vitalii Oshovskyi, head of the department for external relations of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church Oleksa Petriv, representatives of over 40 non-government human rights organizations, scientists and experts.
The participants of the meeting initiated establishment of several working subgroups to engage in elaboration of legislative initiatives dedicated to: improvement of legislation and elimination of discrepancies; medical treatment of prisoners; economic (property) rights of prisoners; social rights of prisoners; rights and conditions of activity of personnel of penitentiary system's institutions, etc.
