Verkhovna Rada adopts as a basis draft law "On municipal guard"

The draft law aims to improve the system of protection of life, health, rights and freedoms of members of territorial communities, their property, environment, interests of local communities from illegal actions.

The draft law offers to enshrine rights of local councils to creation of municipal guard to be financed at the expense of local budgets, or at the expense of other legal sources.

The municipal guard's duty is to engage in provision of lawfulness and legal order on the territory of respective administrative-territorial unit.

Municipal guard will be controlled by local communities.

Respective draft law was registered under No. 2890.
