Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee for Environmental Policy, Environmental Management and Mitigation of Consequences of the Chornobyl Disaster Mykola Tomenko has taken part in a meeting of the Assembly of Chornobyl Shelter Foundation investors and in a conference dedicated to the collection of funds for the construction of the Shelter facility (confinement at the Chornobyl NPP) that took place in London.
The event took place at the central office of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The events’ participants noted that the completion of the Shelter facility requires EUR 615 million. At the same time, the EBRD and the G7 countries approved the decision to provide about EUR 515 million to complete the construction. At that EUR 15.555 million will be provided by some other countries. A part of countries have suspended their contributions. At the same time, the EBRD is the guarantor of implementation of respective agreement.
