Members of the Rivni Mozhlyvosti [Equal Opportunities] interfaction association Olena Kondratiuk, Mariya Ionova, Liliya Hrynevych and Aliona Babak are staying on a working visit in Washington (the United States).

During their five-day visit, the Ukrainian parliamentary delegation will have a number of meetings with U.S. senators and congressmen, as well as with representatives of non-government organizations to discuss current situation in Donbas and in Ukraine on the whole.

On April 27, the Verkhovna Rada deputies met with Senator John McCain and presented the exhibition entitled “Donbas: War and Peace” and “Women: War and Peace,” which was opened at the Russell Senate Office Building in Washington.

The deputies told Senator McCain about all the complexity of the situation in the east of Ukraine and called for expansion of the financial and humanitarian assistance.

The situation in the east of Ukraine also was the point of focus at the meeting with Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs Eric Rubin.

People's deputy Olena Kondratiuk noted that the world community should combine efforts to release Ukrainian officer, Verkhovna Rada deputy and a member of the PACE Nadiya Savchenko and all Ukrainian citizens illegally kept in custody in Russia.

Reforms in Ukraine were also discussed with representatives of the Atlantic Council.

Besides, Verkhovna Rada deputy Liliya Hrynevych said that prospects of European integration condition the necessity to form effective policy of equal rights and abilities of women and men.
