The Verkhovna Rada Committee for Social Policy, Employment and Pension Coverage has recommended that the Ukrainian Parliament adopt as a basis and on the whole the draft law No. 2639 “On introduction of amendments into some legislative acts (as to functioning of local self-government).”

Members of the Committee noted that the draft Law prevents from blocking local self-government bodies, in particular, it prohibits leaving village, town and city councils without their heads until holding of local election in 2015.

The draft law offers to lift the ban on payment of pensions to pensioners working on appointive positions at local self-government bodies in order to ensure their work.
