The Verkhovna Rada Committee for Environmental Policy, Environmental Management and Mitigation of Consequences of the Chornobyl Disaster has not supported the draft law No. 2498 “On introduction of amendments into Law of Ukraine “On scientific and scientific-technical activity as to free access to dendrological parks.”
The draft law urges the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine to ensure free access to dendrological parks by residents of settlements with dendrological parks within their administrative borders.
Members of the Committee stressed the draft law contradicts Article 47 of the Law of Ukraine “On nature reserve fund of Ukraine,” which states that funds obtained by, inter alia, dendrological parks, belong to them. The funds are not subjected to withdrawal and are used to protect these parks.
