On April 8, the Verkhovna Rada Committee for European Integration held a meeting between Committee Head Heraschenko, Committee Deputy Head Ionova and Director-General for Bilateral Relations and European Affairs Ambassador Aleksander Gerzina and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Slovenia Natasha Prah.

At the meeting, Gerzina expressed his support to Ukraine and its territorial integrity. He pointed out the importance of adoption of new laws aimed at the European integration and said that the Republic of Slovenia is ready to provide Ukraine with assistance and support to Ukraine in this field.

Gerzina also noted that the Parliament of Slovenia is working on a draft law on ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU and expressed confidence of adoption of respective Law before the end of this month.

Besides, he expressed readiness to provide assistance in expert examination of legislation.

Expressing gratitude to the representatives of Slovenia for their assistance and cooperation, Heraschenko also pointed out the importance of exchange with experience in the field of European integration, adaptation of the legislation, and provision of expert assistance at the legislative level and at the level of local authorities.

Particular attention was paid to the situation in the east of Ukraine and problems requiring immediate settlement.

The Committee Head informed participants of the meeting about the situation in Luhansk oblast, having pointed to the importance of work with students, representatives of local governments and representatives of small and mid-sized business. In particular, Heraschenko offered to organize a meeting with business representatives to find contacts with representatives of EU business due to loss of the Russian market.

Taking floor at the meeting, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Slovenia Prah expressed readiness to meet with students of Luhansk oblast. She also noted that the second exchange with children aimed at their recreation had taken place.

Ionova noted that the Minsk agreements are being permanently violated by representatives of self-proclaimed republics and the Russian Federation, and the situation in direction of Mariupol is being deteriorated.

The meeting participants agreed to exchange with proposals as to further cooperation with the Verkhovna Rada Committee for European Integration.
