Reporting on the draft law No. 2528, Head of the Committee Liudmyla Denysova explained what amendments are planned to be introduced into the pension coverage of working pensioners-scientists. “We are eyeing the adapted draft law. In compliance with it, if a scientist receives pension calculated on the usual terms, such a pensioner obtains 85% of the total pension but not less than UAH 1,423.5 during the period between April 1 and December 31, 2015. If a person receives scientific pension, he or she should also face the limitation of 85%.”
According to Denysova the implementation of the offered measures would allow pensioners to receive scientific pension (85% of its amount for interim period and 100% after it) if they occupy scientific and scientific-pedagogical positions.
Members of the Committee supported the draft law and noted that its adoption will create an opportunity to protect scientific background in the issue of scientific-technical potential of the country, as in most of the cases the amendments introduced into the pension coverage for scientific-pedagogical employees affect PhDs, who continue working in the field of science after retirement.
