The draft law No. 1362 was prepared for second reading in the frames of an extraordinary meeting of the Committee.
Authors of the draft law, people's deputies of different factions, representatives of wood-processing factories, forestry industry were interested in the draft law aimed at resumption of wood-processing and furniture industry, creation of jobs, reorientation from exports of unprocessed timber to exportation of finished products, etc.
It stands to mention that the major purpose of the draft law is the reorientation from exports of unprocessed timber to exportation of finished products, creation of higher added cost on the basis of timber, which is the national wealth of Ukraine, stimulation of development of wood-processing enterprises.
Thanks to the adoption of the law it is planned to overcome negative consequences of harmful economic policy of Ukraine as a raw materials appendix, and to legislatively embody measures on rational use of forest resources. Besides, the draft law is aimed at regulation of legal relations in this sector in order to create new jobs at wood-processing enterprises, in furniture and other sectors.
Committee Head Viktor Halasiuk and participants of the meeting called on people's deputies on Thursday to vote in support of the draft law. “With this law we will revive the wood-processing sector, create tens of thousands of new jobs, provide tens of billions of profits from export of wood products, and thus, ensure flow of billions into the state budget. This is the way how we will convert Ukraine from a producer of raw materials into a powerful producer of wooden products. That is the only way towards the welfare of the society,” Halasiuk noted.
The Committee unanimously approved the decision to recommend that the Verkhovna Rada adopt the draft law No. 1362 on the whole following the results of its consideration in second reading.
