At the meeting, Palatnyi informed the member of the European Parliament about the work of the Committee in the field of legislative support to the sector of physical education and sport, sector of recreation of children, support to families with children and development of tourism. He said that this year, the Committee held several hearings and roundtables dedicated to problems of providing youth with housing, rehabilitation and recreation of children, functioning of physical education and sport establishments.
“Committee members have managed to achieve allocation of state budget subventions to local budgets worth UAH 100 million for partial financing of sport schools for children. Before 2015, the schools had been assisted by the Social Temporary Disability Insurance Fund. This subsidy will ensure proper functioning of sport schools for children this year,” Palatnyi said.
He also noted that Ukraine is a European state, which “despite the tough times and necessity for unpopular reforms, continues to resolutely move towards the Europe.”
Karski said about efforts taken by the European Parliament to support Ukraine in conditions of Russia’s aggression and stressed that “soon Ukraine will become a member of the European Union and Ukrainian representatives will sit at the European Parliament.”
Meeting participants also discussed the issues of enhancement of cooperation between Ukrainian and European parliamentarians.
