Committee members recommended the Verkhovna Rada to adopt in entirety the draft law on ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine on the one part, and the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community and their member states on the other (Reg. No. 0098). The respective decision was adopted unanimously.
According to the Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister of Ukraine on matters of European integration Olena Zerkal, the delayed submission of the Agreement to the Parliament on the part of the President “is connected with trilateral consultations between Ukraine, the EU and Russia in view of preventing worsening of trade relations between Ukraine and Russia.”
“The first directive for the respective consultations was received from the President of Ukraine, others were signed by the Prime Minister of Ukraine,” she said.
According to the Committee Chair Hryhorii Nemyria, the main aim of the Agreement lied in Ukraine’s economic integration into the EU.
“Ukraine’s economic integration has been delayed. This does not meet the interests of our state,” he said.
Committee members have also discussed the state of preparation for signing the Association Agreement.
Parliamentarians recommended the Verkhovna Rada to adopt in entirety the draft Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the Statement of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the occasion of ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine on the one part, and the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community and their member states on the other (Committee’s initiative), as well as the draft law on ratification of the Agreement between Ukraine and the Kingdom of Spain on carrying out paid activities by members of families that are dependent on diplomatic, consular, administrative and technical personnel of diplomatic missions and consular institutions (Reg. No. 0097).
