The Committee on Family Matters, Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism addressed the President and the Government of Ukraine with a demand to elaborate a more balanced approach to the change in funding of the physical culture and sports sphere

The Committee members held a meeting with representatives of sports NGOs to discuss the situation that occurred due to the threat of destroying the physical culture and sports sphere as a result of ill-considered actions of some ministries and departments.
As it was mentioned, since August 1, funding of local communities of physical culture and sports associations has been terminated.
It was stressed that the governmental bill on amendments to the Budget Code (re budget decentralization) (Reg. No. 4435а) suggests transferring funding of local associations of national sports NGOs to local budgets.
The Committee members claimed that a refusal from central funding of national sports NGOs will increase cases of illegal seizure of property belonging to the abovementioned organizations.
Sports experts are greatly concerned about the fact that the Ministry of Social Policy has submitted a bill on amendments to several laws on mandatory state social insurance which suggests terminating the funding of youth sports schools and children's' recreational institutions at the expense of the Social Insurance Fund for Temporary Disability.
The Committee's Chair A.Palatnyi informed all present at the meeting that the Committee addressed the President of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers about the need for rejecting this bill, although the Ministry of Social Policy still insists on its adopting.
