The law-enforcement bodies should be cleansed both from secret agents and corrupt officials. Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov said this in an interview with “Fokus” magazine, released on Thursday. 

Oleksandr Turchynov expressed conviction that today Ukraine is ready to counter Russian aggression in view of the experience that results form the problems of the past month. “We need to learn to fight not only against terrorist groups, even though armed with up-to-date weapons, but also against regular troops. Those people whose mediocrity, incompetence and sometimes cowardice led to large-scale losses and the fact that a great number of our soldiers got encircled, should be punished,” he claimed.

Chairperson of the Parliament reminded that Russia has been systemically enrooting its secret agents into the Ukrainian law-enforcement bodies. Thereat, he noted that the army was destroyed by those leaders who were winding up military estate and led to complete inability of the Armed Forces. “Efficient weapons, military commissariats and hospitals were sold out. High-ranking officials, including some defense ministers, allowed themselves looting. Now they tell us how to fight, though they should bear the responsibility for the fact that defense capacity of our country was damaged heavily,” he said, adding that “army and other law-enforcement bodies should be cleansed both from secret agents and corrupt officials
