Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov stands for cancellation of Ukraine’s non-aligned status. In the interview with “Fokus” magazine, released on Thursday, Oleksandr Turchynov noted that Ukraine’s standing regarding the Euro-Atlantic integration is today supported by the majority of our population.
“I believe that one of the decisions that should be adopted by the Parliament in the nearest future is abolition of the provision on Ukraine’s non-aligned status that was put forth by Yanukovych by crudely violating the Rules of Procedure. That was done exactly as told by Moscow. The way to accession to NATO should be opened for Ukraine. Only the Euro-Atlantic collective security system can stop such aggressor as Russia,” he claimed.
Thereat, Oleksandr Turchynov replied in the affirmative as to whether there are enough votes in the Parliament for cancellation of the non-aligned status.
