On Tuesday Chairperson of Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Turchynov met with President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite.

The Parties discussed development of bilateral cooperation, prospects of Ukraine’s European integration, and changes needed to be made in Ukrainian legislation to accelerate this process.

Particular attention was paid to the issues on security in the region and aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. 

Oleksandr Turchynov claimed Lithuania, which has also experienced aggressive policy of the Russian Federation and which has gone from the Soviet Union to the European Union, “better than anyone understands the situation in Ukraine and is making everything possible to help brotherly Ukrainian people”.

“We, like no one else, feel the support of Lithuanian people”, claimed the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada. “Position of the Lithuanian government regarding the support of our country is principal and unambiguous”.   

As it was informed earlier, Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Turchynov participated in the Conference of Parliamentary Speakers of the Nordic and Baltic Countries on August 17-19 (Palanga, the Republic of Lithuania).
