Battalions of the National Guard and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, established on a voluntarily basis, are now becoming a basis for restoring the security system of Ukraine. This was announced by Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Turchynov during his visit to the area of the Anti-terrorist operation.

Priority measures that are to be taken on the liberated territories were discussed at the meeting. Particularly, they concerned restoring authorities in the liberated settlements of Luhansk and Donetsk Oblasts, the fight against subversive groups, and other priority tasks.

According to the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada, "laws on preventive detention for 30 days and on expansion of authorities of militia and the National Guard bodies" considerably helped in liberating territories from subversive groups.

"Clearly, our main task is liberating Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts from terrorists, mercenaries, and Russian military men who are torturing our country", said Oleksandr Turchynov, stressing that regardless of all problems "step by step we are liberating our native land".

"Battalions of the National Guard and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, established on a voluntarily basis, are now becoming a basis for restoring the security system of Ukraine", he said, adding that this will become a foundation for a renewed Ministry of Internal Affairs, National Guard, and Security Service of Ukraine.

"When we speak about a new face of Ukraine, about new defenders of Ukraine, about a new security system of Ukraine – they all are being formed here. Your battalions are forming a new team which will protect Ukraine", summed up the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada.
