Chair of the Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information Mykola Tomenko met with members of the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council of Ukraine

Development of national television and radio space was discussed at the meeting. Participants of the meeting drew their attention to ways of implementing the Law "On Public Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine", adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on April 17, 2014, which stipulates establishing the Supervisory Board of the National Public Radio Company of Ukraine. 

It was noted that according to the Law, the Supervisory Board of the National Public Radio Company of Ukraine shall include one representative from each deputies' faction and group of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the present convocation, and nine members from All-Ukrainian public unions. Candidates for these posts are submitted to the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council of Ukraine, which can reject them on the basis of their incompliance with requirements of article 9 of the Law.

Participants of the meeting agreed on holding working meetings of the National Council members and Mykola Tomenko on a regular basis. It is planned to hold meetings with chairpersons of Oblast state television and radio companies in order to discuss ways of developing local broadcasting.
