The Committee on Public Health considered the issue on medical provision for population and participants of the anti-terrorist operation

The Committee members and representatives of governmental and public organizations discussed current problems in organization of medical provision for population and members of the anti-terrorist operation.   

Moreover, attention was paid to the problems of organizing medical provision for population in eastern regions and intense sanitary and epidemiologic situation in places of dislocation of military units and settlements situated in the ATO area.  

Chair of the Committee Tetiana Bakhteieva noted that since the beginning of this year virus hepatitis A morbidity in Donetsk Oblast has increased by 50%, in Luhansk Oblast – by 20%. In her words, salmonellosis, rotavirus enteritis, acute intestinal infections morbidity, particularly among children, has increased as well.     

She also stated that Donbas hospitals, which were to provide medical treatment in peacetime, are now focusing on providing injured military men and civil population with medical treatment. However, such establishments still treat patients with oncological, cardiovascular, and other diseases.      

Following the discussion, it was decided to establish a Working group for generalization of proposals of the meeting's participants, elaboration of a respective decision and elaboration of draft legislative and regulatory legal acts aimed at improving medical provision for population and participants of the anti-terrorist operation.

Representatives of the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Internal Affairs, State Border Guard Service, Security Service, National Guard, State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service, State Emergency Service, Department of Health and Medical Care of the State Management of Affairs, Red Cross Society of Ukraine, and of other related establishments and organizations participated in the meeting.
