Ukraine needs to rely on its own strength and potential. This was announced by Chair of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov, summing up parliamentary hearings "Ukraine’s defence capacity in the XXI century: challenges, threats and ways to overcome them" on Wednesday.

"One of the biggest armies in the world, which has nuclear weapon as well, counters our troops in the east. This is a very serious challenge for our country", he said.

In his words, using our forces "we now are renewing not only army; we are now actively renewing military industrial complex, which finally has begun receiving serious orders from its own country". "Orders that lives of Ukrainians depend on", added the Chair of the Parliament.

According to the Chair of the Verkhovna Rada, "we should have a new incentive, a new stage of development" of the military industrial complex. "We need modern weapons. We need modern structure and efficient material provision of our Armed Forces", he claimed.

Moreover, Oleksandr Turchynov believes national "industrial possibilities and intelligence of the nation can ensure defence capacity of our country", thus, it is necessary to mobilize "all potential and all our citizens". "There is no one to rely on. Only on yourself. We need to clench our teeth and win. There are no alternatives for us", he said.
