“On behalf of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, let me express my satisfaction with the results of work of the Internship Programme that is being carried out under the auspices of the U.S. Agency for International Development and is administered by the NGO “Interns’ League” that unites all graduates of the Programme,” said Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat Volodymyr Yalovyi during the solemn ceremony dedicated to the official completion of the Internship Programme in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in 2013-2014. According to him, “the Internship Programme provides young people with a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Assistance on the part of interns has become an integral part of the activity of Parliamentary Secretariat, since for the past 19 years already interns make up a decent personnel reserve of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.”

V.Yalovyi expressed conviction that “by getting involved in different types of work, these young specialists get ready for performing serious tasks in the future.”

He has also expressed satisfaction with “fruitful cooperation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the “Interns’ League”.

Deputy Chairperson of the Secretariat congratulated interns and expressed hope that the Internship Programme “will result in their professional and personal development and will redound to the advantage of the country.” “With all the knowledge and skills you have gained, you are becoming an important part of our country. This is an invaluable experience,” noted V.Yalovyi, addressing the interns.

In his turn, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the U.S. to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt, who was in attendance at the solemn ceremony, stressed that “this event unites two important aspects of the present-day Ukraine that encourage optimism regarding the future of the Ukrainian state.” “The first of these two aspects lies in steadfastness and actual renovation of democratic institutes. The second aspect lies in the fact that young citizens of Ukraine are present in this hall. They have already shown their courage, determination and intention to develop the European future of Ukraine,” specified the American diplomat. He stressed that Ukraine needs “educated, energetic and wise young people who are willing to participate in the development of their future state.”

Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat Volodymyr Yalovyi and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the U.S. to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt awarded certificates to the interns and wished them efficiently use the received experience for the development of the Ukrainian state.

This year, 72 participants of the Internship Programme in the Ukrainian Parliament received certificates. The best young experts from all over Ukraine had their internship in the 28 committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, participated in the elaboration of bills, organization of round table and experts discussions, etc.
