The Committee on the Rule of Law and Justice recommends that the Parliament should adopt as a basis and in entirety the draft law on amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine (re securing citizens’ right to judicial protection in the condition of antiterrorist operation or imposition of a military or emergency state)

The bill (Reg. No. 4141a) aims at eliminating legislative gaps with regard to actual administering of independent justice by courts and prevention of any interference in judges’ professional activity. 

The bill suggests amending part one of article 34 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

Committee members believe that adoption of the bill promote implementation of the independence principle of judicial branch. It will also help prevent any pressure on the judges in the course of their professional activity and secure objective and unbiased examination of circumstances of criminal proceeding.
