The Committee on Legislative Support of Law Enforcement recommends that the Verkhovna Rada adopt as a basis the draft law on amendments to the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Infringements and the Criminal Code of Ukraine re strengthening responsibility for violating environmental legislation

The bill (Reg. No. 4734) suggests increasing fines for violating environmental legislation, and amending some articles of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Infringements. 

The bill, particularly, supplements the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Infringements with new articles, and amends articles 245 and 246 of the Criminal Code.   

The document stipulates expand powers of environmental public inspectors.

The Committee members upheld the bill, adoption of which will promote rational use and protection of the environment, as well as creating more efficient mechanism of preventing violation of environmental legislation and eliminating its negative consequences.
