The Committee on Legislative Support of Law Enforcement recommends that the Verkhovna Rada adopt as a basis the draft law on amendments to several legislative acts of Ukraine (re strengthening responsibility for damaging telecommunication networks)

The bill (Reg. No. 4994) suggests strengthen responsibility for damaging components of telecommunication networks, networks of television and radio broadcasting, and change body of the crime from material to formal. 

Particularly it is suggested to establish criminal and administrative responsibility for intentional damaging the communication lines (cable, radioreley, etc.), and for violating rules of protecting lines and communication facilities, or damaging cable, radioreley, air line of communications, wire broadcasting, buildings or equipment which are their components.     

Respective amendments are to be made to article 360 of the Criminal Code and article 147 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Infringements.

The draft also stipulates eliminate the non-compliance of article 360 of the Criminal Code and article 147 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Infringements with the Law "On Telecommunications".

The Committee members upheld the bill, adoption of which will give the opportunity to reduce a number of violations connected with intentional damaging the components of telecommunication networks, networks of television and radio broadcasting, and increase reliability of their functioning, etc.
